1. About these terms

These terms apply to all plumbing work carried out by DCG Plumbing Pty Ltd (“DCG Plumbing”, “we”, “us”) and to your use of dcgplumbing.com.au. Our plumbing registration number is BPC 108845.

By accepting a quote, booking a job, or allowing us to start work, you agree to these terms. If we have given you a separate written agreement for a particular job, that agreement takes priority where the two differ.

Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. See Your consumer rights below.

2. Quotes and estimates

We provide upfront pricing before work begins. It is important to understand the difference between the two things we might give you:

  • A quote is a fixed price for clearly defined work, based on what we can see and what you have told us.
  • An estimate is our best assessment of likely cost where the full scope cannot be known in advance, such as a blocked drain of unknown cause or work behind a wall or underground.

Every quote states its own validity period, and assumes normal access, standard site conditions, and no hidden defects. If we discover something that changes the scope, we will stop and talk to you before continuing. See Variations and additional work.

3. Pricing and payment

All prices are in Australian dollars and include GST unless stated otherwise.

  • Free quotes. Quoting your job costs you nothing. You will always know the price before we start.
  • No hidden fees. The figure we give you is the figure we invoice, unless you approve a variation.
  • Payment terms. Due dates, accepted payment methods, and any deposit required are set out on your quote or invoice.
  • Overdue accounts. If an invoice remains unpaid, we may suspend further work and recover reasonable costs of collection.

Where a job is being paid for by a third party such as a landlord, agent, or insurer, you remain responsible for payment unless we have agreed in writing to invoice that party directly.

Callout and minimum charges. Attending your property, diagnosing a fault, and quoting on site takes time. If a callout or minimum service fee applies to your job, we will tell you the amount before we attend.

4. Bookings, access and site conditions

We will agree a date and an arrival window with you. Plumbing is unpredictable work, and an earlier emergency can occasionally push a booking back. If that happens we will contact you as soon as we know and reschedule at a time that suits.

To carry out the work, you agree to:

  • provide safe and clear access to the property and to the work area;
  • tell us about anything relevant that we cannot see, including the location of services, previous plumbing work, asbestos, or known defects;
  • secure pets and keep children clear of the work area and any excavation;
  • move or protect valuables, furniture, and belongings from the immediate work area;
  • confirm that you own the property or have the owner’s authority for the work to be done.

If we attend as arranged and cannot access the property or start work through no fault of ours, a non-attendance fee may apply. See Cancellations and rescheduling.

5. Variations and additional work

Plumbing frequently uncovers things that were not visible when we quoted, such as corroded pipework, tree root damage, non-compliant earlier work, or unexpected ground conditions.

If that happens, we will stop, explain what we have found, and give you a revised price before doing any additional work. You are not committed to the extra work until you approve it. Approval by phone, text, or email is sufficient, and we will record it.

The only exception is where immediate action is needed to make the site safe or to prevent further damage, such as isolating water to a burst pipe. In that case we will act first and tell you straight away.

6. Compliance certificates and approvals

Our work is carried out in accordance with the relevant Australian Standards and Victorian plumbing regulations. Where required, we lodge a plumbing compliance certificate through the Building and Plumbing Commission Victoria.

Some work also depends on approvals or scheduling by third parties we do not control, including water authorities such as South East Water, councils, and inspectors. Where a project depends on those approvals, timeframes are indicative only and we are not responsible for delays caused by them.

7. Our workmanship warranty

We stand behind our workmanship. If something we installed or repaired fails because of the way we did the work, we will return and rectify it at no charge. The warranty period that applies to your job is confirmed on your quote or invoice.

Products and appliances we supply carry the manufacturer’s own warranty. We will help you make a claim, but the manufacturer’s terms apply to the product itself.

Our workmanship warranty does not cover:

  • fair wear and tear, or normal deterioration of existing pipework and fittings;
  • damage caused by misuse, neglect, or failure to maintain the system;
  • new blockages caused by what has been put down the drain, or by tree roots entering elsewhere in the system;
  • work altered, repaired, or interfered with by someone else;
  • faults in existing parts of the system that we did not work on and were not asked to repair;
  • damage from storms, flooding, ground movement, or other events outside our control.

Where we have recommended a repair or replacement and you have asked us to do something more limited instead, our warranty covers only the work we actually carried out.

8. Your consumer rights

Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies those guarantees.

For services, you are entitled to a remedy if the service is not provided with due care and skill, or is not fit for the purpose you told us about. For goods, you are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure, and to have goods repaired or replaced if they fail to be of acceptable quality but the failure does not amount to a major failure.

You can read more at the ACCC’s consumer guarantees page: accc.gov.au.

9. Cancellations and rescheduling

If you need to cancel or move a booking, please let us know as early as you can so we can offer the slot to someone else.

  • Cancelling or rescheduling at short notice may attract a fee, which we will tell you about before charging it.
  • If we attend as arranged and cannot gain access, a non-attendance fee may apply.
  • Where we have already ordered non-returnable materials for your job, those costs remain payable.

If we need to cancel or reschedule, we will contact you as soon as possible and you will not be charged for the change.

10. Emergency and after-hours work

We attend urgent plumbing problems such as burst pipes, major leaks, blocked drains causing overflow, and hot water failures. Emergency attendance is prioritised, and we will tell you the applicable rate before we attend.

After-hours, weekend, and public holiday work may be charged at a higher rate, which we will confirm with you before attending. In an emergency our first priority is to make the site safe and stop further damage; a permanent repair may need to be scheduled as a follow-up visit.

11. Materials and equipment

Unless we have agreed otherwise, we supply the materials for the job and the price we quote includes them. Materials remain our property until the invoice is paid in full.

If you ask us to install materials or an appliance you have supplied, we will do so where it is safe and compliant, but our warranty covers only our installation work, not the item itself or any failure arising from it.

Where a specified product is unavailable, we may supply an equivalent of the same or better standard and will let you know.

12. Liability

We carry public liability insurance and take care on every site. Plumbing work does, however, sometimes require access through walls, floors, ceilings, paving, or landscaping.

Where access of that kind is necessary, we will discuss it with you first. Unless we have agreed otherwise, our price covers making the area safe and backfilling or patching to a practical standard, not cosmetic restoration such as tiling, painting, rendering, or re-landscaping.

Subject to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, and to the extent permitted by law:

  • we are not liable for pre-existing defects, or for damage that would have occurred regardless of our work;
  • we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including loss of income, loss of rent, or loss of business;
  • our total liability for any claim is limited to re-supplying the service or the cost of having it re-supplied.

You must notify us of any claimed defect or damage promptly, and give us a reasonable opportunity to inspect and rectify it before engaging anyone else.

13. Use of this website

The content on this website is provided for general information about our services. It is not plumbing advice for your specific property, and it does not replace an on-site assessment by a licensed plumber.

14. Complaints and disputes

If you are unhappy with any part of our work, please contact us first. Tell us what the problem is and how you would like it resolved, and we will look into it and respond. Most issues are sorted out quickly with a return visit.

If we cannot resolve it between us, either of us may refer the matter to Consumer Affairs Victoria or to the Victorian Building Authority for domestic building work, or take it to the appropriate tribunal or court.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version published on this page at the time you accept a quote is the version that applies to that job. The date at the top shows when the terms were last revised.

These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia.
