1. Who we are

DCG Plumbing Pty Ltd is a licensed plumbing business based at 22 Truemans Rd, Tootgarook VIC 3941, servicing homes and businesses across the Mornington Peninsula. Our plumbing registration number is BPC 108845.

This policy applies to dcgplumbing.com.au and to the personal information we handle in the course of quoting for and carrying out plumbing work. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

2. Information we collect

We only collect information we genuinely need in order to quote for work, carry it out, and keep proper records. That usually means:

  • Your name — so we know who we are dealing with.
  • Phone number and email address — so we can respond to your enquiry, confirm bookings, and send quotes or invoices.
  • Property address — so we can attend the job and understand the site.
  • Details about the plumbing issue — anything you tell us about the problem, the property, or the work you want done.
  • Job records — quotes, invoices, payment records, compliance certificates, and photographs of the work where relevant.
  • Website usage information — see Cookies and analytics below.

We do not ask for sensitive information such as health, racial or ethnic origin, or political or religious beliefs, and we ask that you do not send it to us.

Payments. Where you pay by card or bank transfer, those details are handled by our bank or payment provider. We do not store full card numbers.

3. How we collect it

Most of the time you give it to us directly, when you:

  • complete the quote request form on this website;
  • call, text, or email us;
  • speak with our plumbers on site;
  • contact us through a social media page or a third-party directory.

Some information is collected automatically when you browse the site, and some may come from a third party — for example, a real estate agent, builder, body corporate, or a family member arranging work on your behalf.

4. Why we use it

We use your personal information to:

  • Respond to your enquiry and prepare a quote.
  • Schedule and carry out the plumbing work.
  • Order parts and coordinate with suppliers or contractors where a job requires it.
  • Invoice you and follow up payment.
  • Meet our legal and regulatory obligations, including lodging compliance certificates and keeping records.
  • Handle warranty claims, follow-up work, and any dispute or insurance matter.
  • Improve this website and understand which pages people find useful.

If you have given us your details for a quote, we may follow up on that quote. We will not add you to a marketing list without your consent, and any marketing message we do send will include a way to opt out.

5. Cookies and analytics

This website is built on WordPress and uses cookies and similar technologies. Some are necessary for the site to work; others help us understand how the site is used.

Services used on this site

  • Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics — collects information such as the pages you visit, how long you stay, your approximate location, and the type of device and browser you use. This helps us see which pages are working and which are not.
  • Jetpack (Automattic) — provides site statistics, image delivery, and related WordPress features.
  • Trustindex — displays our Google reviews on the site.
  • Google Maps — displays our location on a map.
  • YouTube (Google) — displays our project videos.

Where these features are shown, the provider may set its own cookies and receive your IP address, even if you do not interact with them. Each provider handles that information under its own privacy policy.

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Doing so may affect how parts of this website behave. You can also opt out of Google Analytics using Google’s browser add-on.

6. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only where it is needed to do the job or where the law requires it, including with:

  • suppliers and subcontractors engaged on your job;
  • water authorities and regulators, such as South East Water and the Building and Plumbing Commission Victoria, where a connection or compliance certificate is involved;
  • our accountant, bookkeeper, and payment providers;
  • our IT and website providers, who host the site and our email;
  • our insurer or legal advisers, if a claim or dispute arises;
  • a government agency or court, where we are required to disclose.

Some of the technology providers described above, including Google and Automattic, store data on servers outside Australia. By using this website you acknowledge that your information may be handled overseas in that way.

7. Keeping it secure

We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold. Our website uses an encrypted connection, access to our systems is password protected, and job records are kept only where our team needs them.

No system is completely secure. If we become aware of a data breach that is likely to cause serious harm, we will respond in line with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme and notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner where required.

8. How long we keep it

We keep job records, quotes, and invoices for as long as we need them for the work, our warranty obligations, and our tax, insurance, and plumbing compliance requirements. Enquiries that do not proceed to a job are kept for a shorter period.

When information is no longer needed and we are not required to keep it, we destroy it or de-identify it.

9. Access and correction

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and you can ask us to correct anything that is wrong or out of date. Contact us using the details below and we will respond within a reasonable time.

We may need to verify who you are before releasing information. In limited cases the law allows us to refuse a request — if that happens, we will tell you why.

10. Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, please contact us first. We would rather hear about it and fix it. Tell us what happened and how you would like it resolved, and we will look into it and respond to you.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can take the matter to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or by calling 1300 363 992.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time as our business or the law changes. The current version is always the one published on this page, and the date at the top shows when it was last revised. If we make a significant change, we will make that clear on this page.
